FAQs

Vaccine, Testing and Mask Policy

We will have enhanced safety policies related to vaccine, testing or masks based on local guidelines and in accordance with the CDC. Everyone in the theater will be required to wear a mask. All guests will be required to show proof of vaccination. For those who are not fully vaccinated or still in the process of becoming fully vaccinated, you will be required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test that is no more than 72 hours (3 days) old upon admittance to the venue.

All Guests Age 12 And Older

All guests age 12 and older are required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

  • This means the day of your event is at least 14 days after your final vaccine dose, which, depending on the type of vaccine, may be one dose or two.
  • All guests will be required to wear a mask while inside the venue, except while actively eating or drinking.

Children Under Age 12

Children under 12 can attend with a vaccinated adult, but please note:

  • Children ages 4 to 11 will need to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test (a PCR test taken within 72 hours of the day of the event).
  • Children ages 2 to 11 will need to wear masks inside the venue except while actively eating or drinking.

Tickets for the Chicago Theatre

This year’s Chicago and Online commencement ceremony will utilize the Chicago Theatre’s Ticketmaster app. You will receive a text to the cell number you shared in your RSVP the first week of October. The steps below will provide guidance to downloading, accessing, and sharing tickets. Check out the Ticketmaster Tutorial for more details.

  • Graduates will have access to six (6) tickets to share with friends and family. Everyone (including infants and children) are required to have a ticket to access the theater, including the graduate. That will leave you with five (5) tickets for guests.
  • Adler cannot coordinate the distribution or sharing of extra tickets.
  • If you need additional tickets or have tickets that will go unused, you may coordinate directly with fellow graduates through the Ticketmaster app. Student Affairs will not have the capability to do that on your behalf.
  • There will not be a will-call window available at the theatre.
  • We will be streaming the ceremony online for anyone that cannot be in Chicago for the ceremony.

Get the app: If you already have the Ticketmaster app, please make sure to log in using the email and phone number you provided for your RSVP to attend commencement. If you do not already have a Ticketmaster account, create one using your Adler email and phone number by downloading the Ticketmaster app on your phone.

Access your tickets: To access your tickets, you will need to click the link from your text message, click the “manage” button, and then proceed to log in. You will then have an option to “Open in App.”

Sharing Tickets: To share your tickets with friends and family, click “Transfer” and follow the prompts. Select your method of transfer. You may send ticket(s) either by phone or email.

What if I don’t have a smartphone? If you do not have a smartphone or your phone is broken, please contact Student Affairs at StudentAffairs@adler.edu to make alternative arrangements.

What if I can’t attend? The ceremony will be live streamed. We will share the link and more information about that shortly.

Check out the Ticketmaster Tutorial for more details.

Do you or any of your guests require any physical access accommodations to fully participate in the event? For example: will you need to avoid stairs, transfer from a wheelchair, be seated in your wheelchair, have an extra-wide seat, or use a ramp to access the stage?

Contact DisabilityOffice@adler.edu if you or your guests have any disabilities or need to access the space, a seat, the stage and be comfortable as soon as possible. We will reserve seats and make advance arrangements.

The ceremony will have American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation and open captioning for the ceremony. Assistive Listening Devices (ALD’s) with head seats and neck loops will be available.

Notify DisabilityOffice@adler.edu if you or your guests will need ASL interpretation, captioning or ALD’s as soon as possible. We will reserve seats for anyone who requires these services.

Do you require any other access services due to your disability to fully participate in the Commencement Ceremony other than what was mentioned above?

Contact DisabilityOffice@adler.edu if you or your guests have any disabilities and need additional accommodations as soon as possible.

Chicago and Online Regalia

Adler will pay for the Graduation Caps & Gowns for 2020 and 2021 grads. (Screenshot of this selection from Josten’s site is below) Your regalia includes gown, cap and tassel, and will be shipped directly to you at the address you specify in your order.

You have the choice to buy custom-made regalia that can be found in the Fine Quality Regalia section. You will have to pay for this more expensive option, and anything else on the Josten’s site you want (jewelry, announcements, custom-made regalia, etc.).

You need to place your order by Thursday, September 16, 2021.  Order your regalia.

If you have questions or issues with your regalia, call Jostens Customer Service at 1-800-854-7464.

No Longer Attending Commencement

I’m sorry you won’t be able to join us for the commencement ceremony.  The event will be lived-streamed at Adler University Commencement from 11am-1pm Central Time on October 24, so please feel free to participate virtually.  We’re also happy to send you a program from the ceremony which will feature your name.  If you’d like one, please email StudentAffairs@adler.edu  with your current mailing address.  Programs will be mailed out in early November. Congratulations on the completion of your degree!

No Longer Attending Commencement—Request for Regalia

Unfortunately, as indicated on the graduation application, regalia is only provided for students who participate in the commencement ceremony. You are welcome to reach out to Josten’s via the link provided and ask how you can order your own regalia.

No Longer Attending Commencement—Request for Refund

The graduation fee covers the closing out of your student record.  That includes things like a degree audit, financial aid exit counseling, and production and shipping of your diploma which apply to all graduates, regardless of commencement participation.  The commencement ceremony itself and the trappings that come with it (regalia, venue, etc.) are gifted to students who opt to participate in the ceremony.

Chicago and Online Degree Conferral Process

Majority of Adler students complete degree requirements during the summer term, so the processing of graduation audits during this time takes some time. Please allow up to 30 calendar days from the point all degree requirements have been satisfied or 30 calendar days from the point your last grade was posted by your instructor for your degree to be conferred.  Please know that we are working diligently to process your graduation audit. You will receive email notification to your Adler email account once your degree has been posted to your academic record.

Please understand there is no need to reach out letting us know your degree requirements have been completed. Students are automatically in queue for degree conferral once ALL degree requirements (including practicum, internship, submission of your final dissertation to your academic department, and confirmation from your academic program your final dissertation has been accepted) are fulfilled.

If you anticipate beginning a job or post-doc by a specific date, please plan ahead by submitting all degree requirements well in advance of your start date.

The degree completion and conferral dates reflected on your transcript will reflect the date all degree requirements were satisfied (this includes last dates of attendance posted by your instructors for each of your courses, completion of practicum and internship, submission of your final dissertation to your academic department, and confirmation from your academic program your final dissertation has been accepted).
